BIO
Born and raised whit her mother in the alienating metropolis of Budapest, Monika’s lonely childhood reinforce her introverted, emotional and introspection-oriented character. Growing up, Monika looked to the mediums of art and dance for an alternative way to express herself: from the age of six she begin practiced dance and attend singing and acting lessons, and graduated from artistic lyceum (arts high school) with specializations in History of Art and Modern Dance.
During her studies, Monika progressively mastered the techniques, yet she never managed to feel she could fully express herself, or was understood. At the age of 18 she left her native country and moved to Italy, where she devoted herself to her family, leading a quiet and reserved life in the company of a few close friends. Although the serenity inside the home finally managed to fill the emotional voids from her childhood, Monika continued to nurture her desire to find a way to transform the sensitive components of her complicated inner world – articulate, sophisticated and, at times, inaccessible even to herself – into tangible elements.
She spent years studying and observing the contemporary art world from behind the scenes: “I started to appreciate abstract art more and more; it remains incomprehensible to many, but that is exactly why I find it interesting…”. Setting aside her initial interest in sculpture and figurative art, Monika abandoned herself to the magic of making her visions concrete: abstract impressions to be imprinted on canvas. Dedicating herself to the study of the great visionaries who translated their ethoses into art, and with continual proximity to talent, Monika’s mastery of techniques, sharpness and expressive confidence grew.
The time has come for the limelight: all that remain of the shy and reserved girl, timid and unexpressed, was a sign on the canvas; that was only a lie; a crumbled wall erected in defence of the soul.
